- 1/2 cup red split lentils
- 1/2 tin chopped tomatoes
- 2 chopped garlic clove
- 1 inch ginger
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
For tempering:
- 1 tbsp oil
- Some curry leaves
- 2 dried chillies
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 1 chopped garlic
Method
- Fry cumin seeds in oil and then add tomatoes, clove and ginger
- Add lentils and everything else.Simmer until cooked. Put in a bowl and set aside.
- Fry the ingredients *for tempering. Pour on top of dhal. Serve with roti.
